Position Description：
Ability to define and execute demand-generating marketing programs in concert with commercial business strategy and brand strategy. This position is responsible for driving marketing programs and associated campaigns. Ability to plan, develop, and implement multiple programs. Ability to understand, synthesize and concisely present the unmet customer needs in each segment for the development of market requirements for specific product(s) or product line(s) as appropriate.
Position Requirements：

Position Description:
This position will be part of the Affymetrix China technical support team. Ideally she/he will be located in Beijing. Together with rest of the technical support staff, the Bioinformatics Scientist will be part of an integral support effort to help customers at key accounts to understand and manage high volume data coming out of Affymetrix high density array technologies and will apply advanced statistical methods, computer science skills and bioinformatics principles to analyze data from a wide variety of genetics studies, including expression analysis, genotyping studies, copy number analysis and resequencing analysis. An unprecedented amount of genotyping data are generated from key customer accounts and the successful candidate will, hand-in-hand with Field Applications Scientists, utilize his statistical genetics expertise to deal with any support issues related to such state-of-the-art clinical and research studies, as well as to take an active role in customer interactions. The incumbent is expected to have knowledge on most commercially available software packages in the field of microarray analyses and statistical genetics and will bring on board exceptional knowledge in statistical genetics and contribute to the group’s success in supporting customers’ cutting edge genetics and genomics commercial operations.
Position Requirements:
Minimum requirements:
Ph.D. in Statistical Genetics / Bioinformatics / Computer Science / Mathematics At least 1 year of experience post graduation.
Proven practical experience in analysis of gene expression microarray data, human polymorphism data, including whole-genome mapping studies by association and linkage, haplotype analysis, population genetics, admixture analysis, etc.
Computer skills: High degree of proficiency with:
- OS: Linux / Unix, Windows
- Programming: Perl, C++/C#
- Statistical software: R / S-Plus / SAS / Matlab / STATA
Ability to work as part of a high-functioning multi-disciplinary team.
Ability to handle several projects simultaneously and multi-task well.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong initiative and demonstrated ability to take ownership of challenging problems.
Desirable:
Peer reviewed publications record in statistical genetics.
Experience with Affymetrix GeneChip® SNP Arrays Experience with other genomics tools and technologies.
In-depth experience with sequence analysis software.
Computer skills: Familiarity with some or all of the following:
- Software packages: R/Bioconductor, dCHIP, Haploview, Helix Tree, Merlin, Structure, Progeny, BC-Gene, Exempler , Mega, Spotfire, Partek, Ingenuity, MetaCore, etc.
- Public databases: HapMap, UCSC genome browser, NCBI dbs & tools,
- Familiarity with Affymetrix applications such as GTGS, GCOS, GTYPE, GSEQ, CNAT, IGB, NetAFFX is an added advantage.
- Programming & Databases: Oracle/SQL, Java, Visual Basic, XML, PHP, SOAP.
Methodologies: Dynamic programming, HMM, distribution functions, multi-way ANOVA and mixed-effect models, nonparametric statistical methods, bayesian theorem, conjugated distributions, Linear regression, Methods for supervised/unsupervised learning.
